Research Interests and Specialties:
Theories of Justice, Racial and Ethnic Policies, Family and Child Welfare
.


Professor Farrell Smith’s research areas include theories of justice
especially concerning property, privacy, family policy, and multicultural
political issues.  Her interest in family and child welfare systems especially
concerning racial and ethnic policies in child placement, led to such
publications as "Ethical Conflict in the Transracial Adoption Debate:
Three Conflicts Involving Community" which appeared in Hypatia.  She
has successfully raised grant funding including a Spencer Grant from the
Center for Adoption Research and Policy (University of Massachusetts
Worcester).
